Description The image shows the blooms of a squawroot or cancer-root (Conopholis americana) plant. The plant was found in Roanoke, Virginia, in the woods to the right of Bohon's farm to Camp Tree Top. The photograph was taken by Myrl Brooks on May 10, 1950. Marked by the National Park Service as being from milepost 125 in section 1N of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Photographer's remarks on photocard: "Parasitic upon tree roots and existing in colonies"
