The Peaks of Otter Lodge is visible in the background of the image. The image was taken in the Peaks of Otter Lodge parking area, near milepost 85.6, where Section 1J meets Section 1K of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Image taken by David L. Tomlinson on October 24, 1965. The photographers description of this image, reads: "On both Sundays [October 17, 1965 and October 24, 1965], when people were fighting for parking in the front lot, and many left because they could not find parking there, this is how the rear lots (3) looked, empty. This condition existed even though people were directed by rangers to park in these lots. |
