The sign features a labeled drawing of the area, and text reading: "You are standing in the 'Saddle.' The Blue Ridge Plateau and the lowlands of the Piedmont lying before you were settled before the revolution. Evidence of many old cabins can be found in isolated gaps, covers and hollows.
