About this Item
Title | Northwest Trading Post |
Date | July 1967 |
Description | Photograph of the Northwest Trading Post, which sold locally made crafts. Taken by John J. Palmer in July 1967 in the Bluff District. |
Commentary | Though built new, the building gives the appearance of great age, as if it had been a farm house along the Parkway converted for the purpose. Because the Trading Post was visible from the Blue Ridge Parkway, everything about it had to fit in with the scenic landscaping. It is located at Milepost 258.7 in Section 2D. |
