About this Item
Title | Snow damage to trees on Parkway |
Date | December 11, 1974 |
Description | Photograph shows snow and fallen trees on part of the road between mile posts 320 and 330 in section 2K or 2L of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken by C. E. Westveer on December 11, 1974. |
Commentary | The Parkway was built to view nature but sometimes nature got in the way. Here a snow storm damaged trees which fell over onto the road. Unfortunately it may have been in a more remote place and taken awhile to be cleared. There is a delicate balance that the parkway had to walk on between nature and society. |
