About this Item

Title Letter from Heriot Clarkson to Francis O. Clarkson
Date January 16, 1939
Description References "another of [Charles] Ross' untruths," perhaps another newspaper article. Also tells Francis that someone stopped him in the street to affirm his battle with the State Highway Commission. Mentions that Mrs. Daisy Marshall Bacot is getting "unscrupulous" treatment by the State. Also references an article "by the Indian Chief" in the Jan. 15, 1939 paper, probably Jarrett Blythe.
Commentary This letter shows how the parkway impacted a variety of people and interests - the general public, Little Switzerland landowners, and the Eastern Band in Cherokee. Box 10, folder 539.
