Date | October 1, 1937 |
Description | Reports on Secretary Ickes' response to fears of major changes to the 1934 parkway loop route plans. Ickes admits changes in the proposed route may be necessary for the extreme south end due to resistance from the Cherokee Indians in granting right-of-way for parkway construction across reservation land. Two alternate routes are proposed for the parkway loop passing through Asheville, though the author notes funding limitations need not necessitate immediate decisions.
