About this Item
Title | Grade Correcting During Construction |
Date | July 22, 1936 |
Description | Photograph shows two man-operated machines, including a Universal Lorain 30, at work on a section of dirt road. |
Commentary | Two men operating machinery during the Blue Ridge Parkway’s construction are trying to compress and level the road. The bigger construction equipment to the right appears to be more suited to dig and remove large objects from the earth. The smaller vehicle to the left seems to be more used for clearing debris using the flat piece of metal horizontally placed behind its front tires. |
