About this Item
Title | Bridge Construction Site in Section 2A |
Date | July 22, 1936 |
Description | Photograph shows a creek and piles of uncut stones on the banks, in section 2A of the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
Commentary | This is the site for the construction of "Bridge 5" according to the photograph's notes. It is unclear whether it is meant to be the 5th bridge in the section or Pine Creek Bridge #5. The stones in the image will eventually be hand laid during the bridges construction, first to make the abutment walls and then the wing walls. |
