Description Photograph shows a stone drinking fountain in picnic area #3 in Bluff Park (now Doughton Park) near mile post 240 in section 2C of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken by J. E. V. in 1940.
Commentary Although originally named Bluff Park, the park was renamed later for "Farmer Bob" Doughton, the "Father of the Blue Ridge Parkway". Robert Doughton lived from 1863 to 1954. He was a powerful United States Congressman from Alleghany County and served from 1911 to 1919.
