Commentary | Although originally named Bluff Park, the park was renamed later for "Farmer Bob" Doughton, the "Father of the Blue Ridge Parkway". Robert Doughton lived from 1863 to 1954. He was a powerful United States Congressman from Alleghany County and served from 1911 to 1919. |
