About this Item
Title | Mountainside of timber to be cut by A. V. Millsap |
Date | June 1, 1937 |
Description | Photograph shows a mountainside that was scheduled for timber cutting by A. V. Millsap near mile post 233.2 in section 2B of the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
Commentary | In 1935, Stanley Abbott recommended purchasing all of the mountains and lead ridges in this area for their scenic value, and to prevent development. However, this was not done, and timber harvesting and rural development had an effect on the quality of the scenery. |
