  • Description

The Caswell County Veterans Memorial is formed from seven connected black granite panels standing on a base made of three pieces of gray granite. Three flat top panels form the center section. Two panels each form the right and left sections and slope downward. These outside sections and their base section also angle forward. Inscriptions appear on all panels and the base. Coats of arms of branches of the military bracket the inscription on each base section. From left to right: United States Space Force, Coast Guard, Navy, Army, Marine Corps and Air Force. The image of an American flag flanked by images of eagles appears on the back.

An open courtyard of concrete and brick pavers fronts the memorial. Two memorial benches of black granite are to each side of the courtyard. Centered in front of the memorial is a Battle Cross consisting of a M1 Garand rifle standing upright between a pair of combat boots with a World War II style helmet on the rifle’s stock. Around the cross's bases are the words HONOR, SERVICE, VALOR, SACRIFICE. Three flag poles stand behind the memorial and lighting provides for night time viewing.

A plaque listing the donors was installed in the Town of Yanceyville Municipal Building.
