Currituck County WWI & WWII Memorial plaque, Currituck
The Currituck County World War I and World War II memorial is a bronze plaque approximately two feet wide by three feet high. Above the inscription is a spread wing American eagle. The head is facing left as the left talon is holding an olive branch which stands for the United States wanting peace and not war. Below the main inscription are the names of those who died in service in the two wars.
ERECTED BY THE CITIZENS OF / CURRITUCK COUNTY IN HONOR / OF THOSE WHO SO HEROICALLY / SERVED IN THE ARMED FORCES / OF WORLD WAR I, 1917-1918 / AND WORLD WAR II, 1941-1945, AND DEDICATED TO THE / SACRED MEMORY OF THESE WHO / SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES FOR / DEMOCRACY, PEACE AND JUSTICE.

The memorial plaque is attached to the outside wall of the Old Courthouse building.
