    The 29 foot tall Confederate monument at Holly Springs depicts a soldier, at parade rest, standing atop a long square column. The wide base has three levels. On the front of the column is a bronze plaque.

    Colonel George Benton Alford, a Civil War veteran, placed the sculpture in the yard of his residential home to honor Wake County veterans from the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and World War I.

    The monument faces the Leslie-Alford-Mims Historical House with the Holly Springs United Methodist Church located behind the monument.

  • Landscape

    This monument, the idea of Colonel George B. Alford, stands in front of the Leslie-Alford-Mims Historic House, near downtown Holly Springs. The monument now stands in the Holly Springs United Methodist Church parking lot, surrounded by a semi-circular enclosure of trees off to the side of the parking lot area.
