LORDS OF TRADE TO THE KING 28 APRIL 1730.

To the King's most Excellent Majty

May it please Your Majty

In our Representation to the Lords Justices of the 30th Aug. 1720 accompanying a Draught of Instructions for Francis Nicholson Esqre to

be Governor of South Carolina We did propose that Commissions should forthwith be prepared to be used in the two Provinces of South & North Carolina for trying of Pirates in both ye sd Provinces.

Their Excellencies in Council on 20th Sept. following taking the same into consideration did order such Commission to be prepared for the Province of South Carolina & by their second Order in Council of the 11th Oct 1720 directed this Board to lay before them ye names of persons proper to be incerted in ye sd Commic̄on which we did by our report dated the 27th of ye same month

But that Order not extending to North Carolina which was then under the Governt of the late Lords Proprs no such Commic̄on hath ever yet been directed for the trying of Pirates in that Province and Your Maj. having been graciously pleased to appoint Capt. Burrington Govr thereof We humbly propose to Your Maj. that the like Commission may be sent thither for the trying of Pirates as has usually been sent to other Plantations under Your Maj. immediate Governmt And We humbly offer to Your Majesty the names of such persons as we conceave fit to be inserted in the said Commission, Vizt

George Burrington Esqre Your Majty's Capt. Genl & Governor in Chief of Your Maj. Province of North Carolina in America or the Govr or Commandr in Chief of ye sd Province for the time being

The Vice Admiral or Vice Admirals of ye sd Province for the time being

The Members of Your Maj. Council in ye said Province for the time being

The Judge of ye Vice Admiralty in North Carolina or ye Judge or Judges of the Vice Admiralty in ye sd Province for ye time being

The Capts & Commandrs of Yor Maj. ships of war within the Admiralty jurisdiction of North Carolina for ye time being.

The Secretary of the Province of North Carolina for the time being.

The Treasurer or Receiver Genll of ye sd Province for the time being.

The Surveyor Genll of Yor Maj. Customes in Yor Maj. Southern Provinces on the Continent of America for the time being

The First or Chief Justice of the Provincial or Supream Court of North Carolina for the time being
