North Carolina—

Know all men by these presents that We Richard Caswell Cornelius Harnet and Joseph Montfort are held and firmly Bound unto His Excellency Josiah Martin Esquire Governor in chief of the said Province in the penal Sum of Ten thousand pounds proclamation Money to be paid unto His said Excellency Josiah Martin or to the Governor or Commander in Chief for the time being and to which payment well and truly to be made We bind ourselves our Heirs Executors and Adminisrs firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals & Dated this Twenty third day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred & Seventy one

Whereas by Act of Assembly passed this Day the above Bounden Richard Caswell is appointed a Commissioner to Sign & Stamp Debenture Bills Chargeable on the Public Treasury of this Province to the Amount of Sixty Thousand Pounds Proclamation Money. The Condition of the above obligation is such That if the above Bounden Richard Caswell shall duly and faithfully Execute and Discharge the Trust reposed in him according to the true intent and meaning of the said Act then this Obligation is to be void and of none effect, Otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue—
