Yours of the 20th Ultimo reached me only to Day. I am much concerned for the Circumstances of Distress to which Officers so eminent and Necessary to good Government as the Judges of the Superior Courts are reduced by the Defects in our Finances.
You will find enclosed an order to the Commissary General to procure you all necessary Supplies for traveling and draw on the Specific Tax for the Fund. I would send you warrants on the Treasury was I not well aware that the Paper answers very little Purpose in traveling; if, however, you think it can be of any use to you, you may take up from the Sheriff of your Own or any County a Sum Competent to your present Occasion and draw on me for it to be paid by a Warrant on the Treasury.
P. S.—I thank you for your Congratulations. Mrs. Burke does the same, and we both wish our best and most grateful Respects to Mrs. Williams and hope you all are well.
