Camp Bacon’s Bridge, 9th April, 1782.

Dear General:

I recd. your favour of the 15th of last month and observed the contents. Major Armstrong comes to Hillsborough, and I have requested him to give you a return of the Cloathing he recd. for the use of the North Carolina Brigade. I have inclosed you a return of the deserters from Lieutenant McNees. Also a return of the time the Soldiers’ inlistments expires. Major Armstrong, Captns. Little, Yarborough & Lt. Scurlock comes to North Carolina with those men that is now discharged. I have directed them to wait on you for your orders.

I left the baggage 14 miles on this side of Hillsborough, the 13th March, and they have not yet come up, but expect them every day now, if nothing has happened to them. I have nothing new to inform you; the enemy keep close in Charles Town and the quarter house. Lieutns. Read, Budd, Mr. Thomas & Mr. Hurst, has come out of town on Parole; they Inform us salt provision is plenty, but fresh very scarce; poor beef in the Market sell for 2/ Sterling per lb., and other fresh provisions in proportion. We have discharged 100 men. I have sent Governor Burke a plan by Capt. Doherty, the agent for the officers of our line. He was requested to return to North Carolina to forward on Stores, &c. The Officers are very desirous that the lands may be laid off for the Officers &

N. B.—I have given Capt. Lytle a List of all the Deserters from the Brigade & have directed him to send Copys in the different parts of the State, so that they may be apprehended, &c.
