GOV THOS. BURKE TO JUDGE OF THE SUPERIOR COURT.

Hillsborough, Apl. 11th, 1782.

Sir:

Inclosed is a pardon for a certain Daniel Stringer, of Edgecomb County, pursuant to a promise which I gave him in September last, but it is not to avail unless it shall appear to you that Coll. Henry Hart was the Officer who Commanded the Troops when he Joined, when they were in actual Service, or unless Such Officer, whoever he was, shall produce a Certificate to you agreeably to the purport of the promise, and the recitation in the pardon, Such being the Conditions of the promise.
