Hillsborough, 3rd August, 1788.

Sir:

You will oblige me very highly if you will by the first opportunity furnish me with such information as you may have in your power respecting the demand which the Government of Martinique has against this State, particularly what was the amount of the Demand,

to what amount you drew on the Treasury in discharge of it, & whether any particular mode was laid down by the Assembly, as I have had some late applications on that subject, & having no documents in my power from which I can obtain information respecting these particulars, I hope you will be good enough to excuse my giving you this trouble.
