FROM HENRY MONTFORT.

New Bern, November 8th, 1784.

Gentlemen:—

I was by the last Assembly at Hillsborough appointed a commissioner to purchase a quantity of tobacco for Capt. William Bonits, and in order to enable me to carry the business into effect I was to have drawn on the treasury for the sum of two thousand pounds, but finding a poor prospect of obtaining any money, I now beg leave to resign my appointment.

I am, gentlemen, your very humble servant,
HENRY MONTFORT.
