JOHN GIDDY'S RESIGNATION AS LIEUT. COLONEL.

Halifax County, Feby. 6th, 1779.

The Honorable the Speakers of the Senate and Commons & the Members of the General Assembly.
Gentlemen:

Please to receive my resignation as Lieut. Colo. of this County and at present Commanding Officer of the Same. I must beg Leave to observe to your honours that I find the task an arduous one and myself in reallity unequal to it. The Gentlemen next in Command are John Whitaker, first Major, and Amis Allin, Second Major.
