TO THE HONORABLE THE DELEGATES OF NORTH CAROLINA.
Gentlemen:
It is with the utmost pleasure that I engage to communicate to His Majesty those testimonies of Joy, which the Birth of a Dauphin has diffused through the State of North Carolina. These proofs of Affection in the Citizens of the United States cannot fail to be extremely agreeable to the King their Ally.
Providence has granted him in this event one of the greatest Blessings that he could expect from its goodness: and the sentiments which animate the people in your State on the Occasion cannot fail to render it more grateful to his Heart.
The Alliance has so intimately connected these two nations that the prosperity of the one, will on all occasions be an advantage to the other. I entreat you Gentlemen to assure your Constituents that as they are pleased to interest themselves in the Happiness of his Majesty, he will not be less interested in every thing that relates to them; and that he will neglect no opportunity by which he may contribute to their happiness.
