John Findley Jack (1820-1877) of Rutledge, TN, was the son of Sarah Elizabeth Cocke (1792-1866) and John Jack, a judge. Young John entered the University in 1839 and graduated in 1842. He became a planter and lawyer and fought in the Mexican War.
