James Goss Smith (1835-1909) was William Brevard Dusenbery’s brother-in-law and the husband of Cornelia Lydia Dusenbery (1831-1887). James was a dry goods merchant who also served as postmaster for Lexington, NC. The Smiths were the parents of William D.(1861-1898), Elizabeth (abt. 1863-abt. 1864), James H. (1865-1877), and Grace C. (1867-1939). Cornelia and James were buried in the Lexington City Cemetery.
