Currituck County, North Carolina, is located in the northeastern corner of the state, directly below the state's border with Virginia. Currently, the Superior Court hears all criminal cases classified as felonies, any civil case involving more than $10,000, and District Court appeals. North Carolina's counties are grouped into forty-six Superior Court districts, which in turn are grouped into eight divisions. Carrituck County is part of the First Judicial District, along with Chowan, Gates, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, and Dare counties. The Superior Court division has exclusive original jurisdiction for probate of wills and for administration of decedents' estates.
