| Description | Article on opening of The Gayety theater, first theater known to operate in Asheville; "The theater is in the store room recently occupied by the Pelbam Pharmacy, but so attractive have the improvements made it that one can hardly recognize it. A brilliant electrical display on the outside cannot fail to attract attention, but it is inside that the greatest improvement has been made. A number of handsome paintings are on the walls and comfortable chairs and plenty of room is furnished the patrons of the show." 5 cents admission |
