Description Ad for "Shuffle Along" at the Victoria says "left section of the theatre only reserved for white people"
Notes "Shuffle Along" was the first major African-American musical, which played for 2 years on Broadway beginning in 1921. Songs by Sissle and Blake. Wikipedia notes that show moved black audiences out of the balcony and into the orchestra.
