Notes
Theater designed for both movies and live performance with a deep stage and dressing rooms. Racially segregated with a separate entrance for African American patrons on the left side of the building leading to a balcony with separate toilets and a small box office. Balcony divided but not physically separated. Only one staircase served the balcony so the segregation of the balcony is unknown. Newspapers and ads do not indicate the theater’s racial policy. Opening date: June 19, 1939. Theater received by the town’s mayor.
