Louisiana Five-Dollar Note
Dated "March 10th, 1863."

This Louisiana note was designed and produced by "B. Duncan" of Columbia, South Carolina. At its center is an allegorical scene depicting an armored South vanquishing the North, who lies on the ground with a broken sword. Enhancing this image of Confederate victory, the South holds his foot upon the throat of a struggling eagle, a symbol of the Union. See (below) the green design of this note's reverse.
