North Carolina State Issue, 1863
NC Fifty-Dollar Note
Printed date "Jan. 1st, 1863."
North Carolina Governor Zebulon B. Vance is again featured at the center. Overall, this note's design is very similar to that of the previous twenty-dollar specimen. The only obvious differences are the deletion of the hornets' nest and the addition of Justitia (left), the Roman goddess of justice, who holds a large sword in one hand and a balance or scale in the other.
