Excerpt from | Oral History Interview with Stan Hyatt, November 30, 2000. Interview K-0249. Southern Oral History Program Collection (#4007) |
Hyatt discusses the environmental issues the Department of Transportation (DOT) dealt with as they began construction of the I-26 corridor, which, along with safety and quality, was a significant issue. The department paid over a million dollars to relocate farms, and paid to "rebuild" streams to offset damage to wetlands through which the road would pass.
