AmeriCorps workers were a great help, but threw away lots of useful stuff, Holland thinks

Holland recalls the team of AmeriCorps workers who cleaned up his store and restaurant as a mixed blessing. They cleaned quickly and thoroughly, but threw away lots of material he hoped was salvageable. They did so because of warnings from the government that the water carried bacteria like E. coli with it. Furthermore, while the government was willing to pay crews to clean up, they are not willing to pay to replace the property they cleared away.
