Subject specialists, bibliographers, and staff in Library Digitization Services coordinate planning for the project. The production of the digital texts and images as well as their publication on the web is managed by Natalia Smith, Digitization Librarian.

The DocSouth Editorial Board, composed of faculty, librarians, and publishers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, guides the development of DocSouth. The Board has overall responsibility for policies on the selection of texts and images for DocSouth and for the selection and presentation of interpretative and educational information.
