Watts Jones</name> are held and firmly bound unto the <hi rend="italics"><name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization" rend="yes">Trustees</name> of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University of North Carolina</name></hi>, in the just and full sum of five thousand pounds current money: for the true payment of which we bind ourselves jointly, severally and firmly. Sealed with our seals and dated this 10<hi rend="sup">th</hi> day of May A.D. 1818.</p> <p>The Condition of the above obligation is this, that whereas the above bounden <name key="pn0003148" reg="Meares, William Belvidere" type="person">William B Mears</name> hath been appointed by the <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Board of Trustees</name> of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University of North Carolina</name> their <hi rend="italics">Attorney</hi> in the District composed of the counties of <name key="name0000713" reg="New Hanover County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">New Hanover</name>, <name key="name0003011" reg="Brunswick County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Brunswick</name>, <name key="name0003007" reg="Bladen County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Bladen</name>, <name key="name0003019" reg="Duplin County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Duplin</name>, <name key="name0000801" reg="Onslow County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Onslow</name>, <name key="name0003049" reg="Sampson County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Sampson</name>, and <name key="name0000218" reg="Columbus County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Columbus</name>.</p> <p>Now if the said <name key="pn0003148" reg="Meares, William Belvidere" type="person">William B Mears</name> shall well and truly receive and take into his possession all such monies or other property of what kind or nature soever, which the <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Trustees</name> of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> may have right unto, arising or which have arisen by escheat or otherwise to the said <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Trustees</name>, within the counties composing the District aforesaid: and account for and pay the same to the <hi rend="italics">Treasurer</hi> of the <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Board of Trustees</name>, after deducting therefrom the commissions and charges allowed by the <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Board</name>: then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.</p> <closer><salute><hi rend="italics">Signed, Sealed and Delivered in presence of }</hi></salute> <signed rend="left"><name key="pn0003356" reg="Lloyd, Richard" type="person" rend="yes">R'd.
