Memorandum of an Agreement made between Walter Alves & Richard Bennehan in behalf of the Trustees of the University of North Carolina of the one part & John M. Goodloe of the other part Witnesseth. The said John M. Goodloe on his part doth agree to build a House at the Seat of the University of the following Dimensions Viz. — Thirty by Twenty feet & Ten feet Pitch between Joints to be framed a four & an half Inch wall of Such Size timbers as is described in the Bill of Lumber hereto Annexed with one Ledge Door Three by Seven feet & Two eighteen light Windows in each Side & Two Six light windows in each end with plain Boxing large & Quine Boards, Door & Window Casements without ornament — Weatherboarded with Nine by three Quarter of an Inch featheredge Plank beaded showing Six Inches — Sheathed with three Quarter Inch plank & Covered with good heart of pine Shingles eighteen Inches by Seven eighths at the but Showing Six Inches, the Sill & other principal Timbers to be of good heart of pine. Flooring plank of good pine Quartered Eight by One & One Quarter of an Inch to be well Seasoned & laid Square Joints. The Whole to be Compleated in a plain but faithful and workman like Manner in Two Months from the date hereof. At which time the said Walter Alves & Richard Bennehan in behalf of the Trustees Aforesaid on their part doth Agree to pay unto the said John M. Goodloe his Heirs or Assigns the sum of One Hundred & Fifty Nine Pounds Twelve Shillings & One penny current money of North Carolina as [unrecovered] Bill of Cost also hereunto Annexed. In Witness whereof the parties have hereunto Set their hands & Seals this 19th day of August 1801.
