                <p>I mentioned to you when at <name key="name0000934" reg="Raleigh, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Raleigh</name> the insufficiency of the work which had been done by <name key="x" reg="x" type="person">Hodge</name> at the <name key="name0000862" reg="Person Hall" type="place" rend="yes">chapel</name>, and the necessity of his being informed that we would not receive it. I cannot now charge my memory whether we had agreed upon the mode of doing this business, but as you are considered the organ of the <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization" rend="yes">Board</name> I suppose he will expect to receive it through you.</p>
                <p>I entreat you to take the necessary measures with regard to <name key="x" reg="x" type="person">Hodge</name> before he proceeds further with the building that he may have no reason to complain of us, I am fully convinced that man has no intention of compleating his contract without a Law-suit; we ought therefore to be circumspect, and continually press him without relaxation to do his duty.</p>
                <p>Pray inform me by the return of the<pb id="unc02-17-p02" n="2"/>post whether any thing has been done to forward the contract with <name key="pn0003101" reg="Hopkins, Samuel" type="person" rend="yes">Hopkins</name> and the progress of the main building.</p>
                <p>I intend to take <name key="name0000934" reg="Raleigh, NC" type="place">Raleigh</name> in my way to <name key="name0000484" reg="Hillsborough, NC" type="place" rend="yes">Hillsborough</name> so we can go up together visiting the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> in the way, and affecting whatever may be necessary with <name key="pn0003101" reg="Hopkins, Samuel" type="person" rend="yes">Hopkins</name> while we are there.</p>
                <p>We have nothing new or interesting at <name key="name0000455" reg="Halifax, NC" type="place">Halifax</name>, and believe me as usual</p>
