				<p> Know all men by these presents that we <name key="pn0003101" reg="Hopkins, Samuel" type="person">Samuel Hopkins</name>, <name key="x" reg="x" type="person">William Cain</name>, <name key="x" reg="x" type="person">David Ray</name> &amp;
						<name key="x" reg="x" type="person">Henry Thompson</name>
					<name key="x" reg="x" type="person">W<hi rend="sup">m</hi> Lytle</name> all of the <name key="name0000804" reg="Orange County, NC" type="place" rend="yes">County of Orange</name> and State
					aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto the
					<name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization" rend="yes">Trustees of the University of North Carolina</name> and their Successors in
					the Sum of Two thousand pounds Current money of this State, for the true payment
					thereof We bind ourselves and each of us our heirs Exers. and Administrators,
					jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated
					this 25th day of January 1794.</p>
				<p>The Condition of this obligation is such that Whereas the above bonden <name key="pn0003101" reg="Hopkins, Samuel" type="person">Samuel Hopkins</name> hath
					undertaken to be built a House for the president of <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization" rend="yes">the University of
						North Carolina</name>, agreeable to the Memorandum set forth on this paper,
					and to be built on such place at the seat of <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">the University</name>
					as <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">the
					Trustees</name> may direct, and have the same Compleated in every respect in a
					good and workman like manner on or before the first day January next, Complying
					to the aforesaid articles or Memorandum written on this paper and Signed by the
					said <name key="pn0003101" reg="Hopkins, Samuel" type="person">Samuel</name> for
					himself and <name key="pn0003005" reg="Alves, Walter" type="person">Walter
					Alves</name> and <name key="x" reg="x" type="person">Absolom Tatom</name> in
					behalf of <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">the
						Trustees of the University</name>, That this obligation to be void or else
					to remain in full force and virtue.</p>
