                    Mitchell</name> Requesting a Leave of Absence, July 31, 1853</head>
                <p> The undersigned, professor in the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North                         Carolina" type="organization">University of North Carolina</name>,
                    respectfully represents to the Hon. <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Board of Trustees</name> of the same that he graduated
                    at <name key="name0001257" reg="Yale University " type="organization">Yale
                    College</name> in Sept. 1813 — that after the lapse of 40 years
                    (nearly) the surviving members of the class to which he belonged propose to have
                    a "reunion" on the 27th day of July next being the day
                    preceding the annual commencement in that institution.</p>
                <p>It would be very agreeable to him to see those who were his companions in study
                    in some instances at the preparatory school — and in others his
                    associates during a period of four years — to see them once more.</p>
                <p>He therefore craves leave of absence from the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> for
                    a term of not less than fourteen days, after the 24<hi rend="sup">th</hi> of
                    July next; with a view to the object just specified as also, to transact some
                    business connected with the course of instruction in the department of which he
                    has the charge. </p>
