                <p>The Faculty of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization" rend="yes">University</name> wishing to promote a spirit
                    of generous emulation among the Students &amp; to reward merit have
                    determined that such Student in each class as shall excel his class fellows in
                    his Saturday compositions shall have his name mentioned with honour before the
                        <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> recorded with the subject of the
                    Composition in this Book &amp; as a reward for extraordinary merit as often
                    as it shall appear they shall write down their composition at full length with
                    their names annexed.</p>
