Patterson</name> </item> </list> <p>The following Ordinances were adopted.</p> <p>One of the Professors shall be appointed Bursar of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name>: — it shall be his duty to receive from the Students the money or drafts for money they may bring with them, & disburse the same, in paying the Board, tuition fees, & other necessary expenses of the Students: — he shall keep an account of the money received & disbursed for each Student, & at the close of each Session he shall render a copy of such account to the parent or guardian of each Student & pay the balance (if any there be) to such parent or guardian, or to his or her written order.</p> <pb id="unc07-08-p02" n="40"/> <p>Each Student on his arrival at the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> shall deliver over to the Bursar all monies or drafts for money which may be committed to him for the payment of College expenses, & for his his so doing he shall be regarded as acting under a pledge of honor.</p> <p>The Bursar shall be allowed five dollars per annum for receiving & disbursing the monies of each Student which shall be paid at the close of each Session by the Treasurer of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name>.</p> <p>No Student shall during the Sessions of College on any pretence contract any debt whatsoever. And if any Student violates this ordinance & the parent or guardian of such Student or any other person on his or her behalf shall pay or satisfy any debt so contracted such Student shall be forthwith dismissed from the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name>.</p> <p>Resolved that <name key="pn0001194" reg="Mitchell, Elisha" type="person" rend="yes">Professor Mitchell</name> be appointed Bursar of the University for the ensuing year Commencing with the next Session.</p> <p>On motion of <name key="pn0001165" reg="McPheeters, William" type="person">Dr. M<hi rend="sup">c</hi>Pheeters</name></p> <p>Resolved that [blank space] a native of <name key="name0003074" reg="Vermont" type="place">Vermont</name> be admitted as a Student in the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> free of tuition unless there be applicants for the place of beneficiaries who are natives of this State.</p> <p>Committee adjourned.</p> </div1> </body> </text> </TEI.2>
