                <p>The Faculty met. Present the <name key="pn0001385" reg="Pool, Solomon (b. 1832)" type="person" rend="yes">President</name> and Professors <name key="pn0003383" reg="Patrick, David Settle" type="person" rend="yes">Patrick</name>, <name key="pn0003029" reg="Brewer, Fisk Parsons" type="person" rend="yes">Brewer</name>, and <name key="pn0001135" reg="McIver, Alexander" type="person" rend="yes">M<hi rend="sup">c</hi>Iver</name>.</p>
                <p>The Minutes of the last three meetings read and approved except that no mention is made in the minutes of Jan 10<hi rend="sup">th</hi> of the disposition made of irregular students in prof <name key="pn0003029" reg="Brewer, Fisk Parsons" type="person">Brewer's</name> Scheme which was adopted at that meeting. The correction is made to the scheme that irregular students be required to visit three lessons a day and be amenable in all respects to the professors to whom they recite, as the regular students are.</p>
                <p>The following Memorial to the <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Board of Trustees</name> was adopted, professors <name key="pn0003383" reg="Patrick, David Settle" type="person">Patrick</name> &amp; <name key="pn0001135" reg="McIver, Alexander" type="person">M<hi rend="sup">c</hi>Iver</name> voting in the affirmative prof <name key="pn0003029" reg="Brewer, Fisk Parsons" type="person">Brewer</name> in the negative to wit.</p>

                <p>Whereas the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> was founded and endowed for the promotion of learning and virtue, and intended especially for the youth of the state; and whereas it has not been generally patronized since the present Faculty were elected; Therefore:</p>
                <p>Resolved; that no member of the Faculty desires be in the way of the success and prosperity of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name>.</p>
                <p>Resolved; that we most respectfully ask the Honorable <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Board of Trustees</name> and the <name key="name0000352" reg="Executive Committee, Board of Trustees" type="organization">Executive Committee</name> of said Board to adopt such measures as may be necessary and proper to restore public confidence and favor to the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name>, without any reference to the effect which such action may have incidentally, upon our future relations as a Faculty.</p>
                <p>Resolved; that a copy of these Resolutions be sent to his Excellency the <name key="pn0000272" reg="Caldwell, Tod Robinson" type="person" rend="yes">Governor</name> of the state to be laid before the Honorable <name key="name0000107" reg="Board of Trustees" type="organization">Board of Trustees</name> of the <name key="name0001146" reg="University of North Carolina" type="organization">University</name> at their next meeting.</p>
                <p>The Faculty adjourned.</p>
