Description Sign for "Brinegar Cabin and Loom" outside of Brinegar Cabin. Brinegar Cabin is located on milepost 238.5 near or in Doughton Park off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Image taken from the National Park Service, Blue Ridge Parkway Headquarters and taken by A.S. Burns in March 1947. Sign reads "The art of weaving on a four-poster hand loom. Long lost to all but the mountain people. Was here carried on from 1885 to 1935 by a busy farmer's wife Carolyn Brinegar. Her mother's century old loom is still in use."
