About this Item
Title | Road completely blocked by slide |
Date | August 16, 1940 |
Description | Photograph shows a landslide entirely blocking the roadway near station 128+00 and mile post 318.9 in section 2K of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken by Granville Liles on August 16, 1940. |
Commentary | This landslide blocks the road and needs a lot of clean up to clear the path. The road was still under construction and this must have caused a decent sized delay. It probably also caused some damage to the existing road buried underneath the debris. |
