Title Letter from F. B. Bauer to Francis O. Clarkson
Date June 14, 1939
Description At the suggestion of Heriot Clarkson, Bauer asks Clarkson to look at a proposed Congressional bill that would take land from the Eastern Band of Cherokees for the parkway. Bauer thinks it is unconstitutional, and in light of the Switzerland Company's battle with the State Highway Commission at Little Switzerland, asks that Clarkson give the Band some advice on the matter.
Commentary This letter reveals that some communication had already been going on between the Clarksons and the Bauers. It also shows the connections between the North Carolinians battling the Park Service. Box 11.
