Description This article reports the formation of an organization in Western North Carolina to work on behalf of the proposed scenic park-to-park highway. J. Q. Gilkey of Marion is spearheading the group's formation. Gilkey is cited as saying that president Roosevelt is in support of the plan. Also quotes at length Senator Byrd of Virginia, who asserts that the project can be completed with no state funds, and that the use of a toll has been discussed to finance the project.
