About this Image

Title Channel Change at Bridge Site #10 (Section 2A)
Date June 23, 1936
Description Photograph shows narrow channel of water as seen from the top of an embankment or hill, in section 2A of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Commentary The photographer, A.C. Haygard, took this photo from the road cut, looking down into the embankment. It is unclear whether the body of water was a drainage channel or a stream; however, the disappearance the water under the embankment might suggest this was a bridge site. Subsequent images reveal this was “bridge site #10”, perhaps meaning it was the Little Glade Bridge, the tenth bridge in section 2A.
