Description Excavating in cut. Section 2U, between Mt. Pisgah and Yellowstone Falls.
Commentary A backhoe loader is excavating the road. It is dumping the extraction into the back of a construction truck. Workmen are controlling the machinery. Road construction began on March 01, 1939. The road was open to traffic on September 02, 1955. This section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is 9.611 miles long. It runs between Mt. Pisgah and Yellowstone Falls.
