About this Item

Title Icy Rock Curve
Date October 31, 1936
Description Photograph shows landscape and road cut into steep rocky slope in section 2C of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Commentary When constructing the road, special consideration had to be paid to the varying weather conditions often experienced in this area. This particular area presented a challenge because of the accumulation of ice often seen on slopes of mountainous roads as well as the sharp curvature in this section of the parkway. This picture is a different angle of the earlier pictures of the Icy Rock Cuts.
