The Proceedings of the Annual Sessions of the New Bern Missionary Baptist Association of North Carolina primarily detail the business activities of the congregation. Brief summaries of the morning, afternoon, and evening sessions are included for each day of the annual meetings. Included is such information as which hymns were sung, the title of the sermon delivered, and any all business and procedural matters addressed during that session. Lists of Ordained Ministers, Committee Reports, rolls, and financial records can also be found within these annual reports. In addition to describing the administrative structure of the Association, the proceedings provide an interesting look at the challenges faced by southern African American churches in the early twentieth century.
